Best Spot on the Lot - Pratt County Fair 2012
Last week was FAIR WEEK! As a kid this was the week I looked forward to ALL SUMMER!! The fair was soooo much fun! Now as an adult and with Adam on the fair board I am realizing how much parents and volunteers put into the fair to make it such a success. My dad was even fair board President for several years so I got a good taste of what all went on but not until now do I fully grasp what a great job these people do for youth.
We have entered crafts and food before in open class but this was our first year to take a bucket calf! This year we had a couple crafts for the girls to enter and I entered a food entry. We got blues, reds and a white. Later the craft superintendent told me the judge thought she had to give a 1st, 2nd and 3rd and that's why we got reds and whites in crafts. The superintendent told the judge that she could give as many blues as she wanted after she had judged the preschool crafts. So that explains why my girls entered pretty much the exact same thing and got different ribbons! Oh well! They just know they are ribbons at this age! But psycho 4-H mom knows better!!! I do have to say that this has been good conditioning for me before we enter 4-H!! Anyway, besides the crafts and food, we took Rowdy to town and Mia also showed one of Deweese's Blue Butt pigs. We are very thankful that they give Mia that opportunity. Here is the video of the pig show. It's a little long. But these little guys and gals are super cute to watch! Especially when the judge pulls them all to the middle of the ring to talk. At that point and time everyone looses their pig and it's quite the scramble to find it! The judge asked Mia if she was ready to put her pig up and she said No. So she spent a little more time in the show ring! You can kind of hear it on the video.
Mia got to show Rowdy in the Open Class Bucket Calf Show. She did great with Rowdy. He decided to get a little "rowdy" in the show arena and ending up stepping on her back. But after a short melt down, like a real champ, she got back out there and finished the show. Thanks to Taylor Deweese and Dean Fitzsimmons for helping her get back out there too. I think there was just a little too much excitement for Rowdy. She did a little interview with the judge and did great with that. Thanks to all of her supporters that came too! Here is her judge interview:
