She has:
Amblyopia and Strabismus
What this means is she is nearly blind in her left eye. The brain and the eye are not communicating. And that same eye is crossed inward. What happens is if you don't use your eye the brain shuts down and you lose vision in that eye. That's what hers has started to do.
What do we do?
We patch her good eye for 4-6 hrs a day and she is getting glasses. The glasses are to protect her good eye so nothing happens to it or she would have no sight. The left eye will have 3x power in it to help her to see and help the eye to line up and hopefully improve her vision over time. If her eye does not line up she can have surgery later down the road. But right now, getting her vision back is his main concern.
Thankfully they had some nifty patches to hook us up with that she thinks are pretty cool and she is doing a FABULOUS job of wearing the patch. I was pretty anxious about this because we were patching before the appointment and it was not going well. It was the "pirate" kind of patch and these are band-aid type patches, with GLITTER :) She has done 4 hrs every day this week so staring tomorrow we are bumping it up to 6. Prayers appreciated! She will also get her glasses this coming week which I think will help her so much because she just doesn't see much when she has the patch on.
I have to give a shout out to our daycare, Kathy S. She has committed to work with us on this and get Hadley's vision back. We are so thankful for that since she is at her house for the majority of the day. We put the patch on in the morning and she wears it at Kathy's all morning.
I was more encouraged when we visited our local eye Dr. to get her glasses. They said with diligence her vision can be restored. They have proof of a lady here in town that had the same problem as a child and sees fine today.
I don't know how many times this week I have broke down and just pleaded to Jesus to heal her eye when she says, momma, I can't see. :(..
We do believe that Jesus can heal her eye and we are asking for prayers once again that her eye will be healed and vision restored. If you are praying that prayer with us, THANK YOU and BLESS YOU!
Sporting the Patch!
If you have to have an eye patch, that's the one to have! We will keep Hadley in our prayers :)
